When your car has a nice paint job – whether standard or custom, you want to protect it. Our preferred paint shield is Sun Tek Paint Protection Film. Commonly referred to as a “clear bra,” Sun Tek PPF is a transparent, durable film that is applied to the high-impact areas of your car such as the front portion of the hood, fender and bumper, as well as rear-view mirrors and door handles. This thin film protects your vehicle’s paint from scratches, chips, and other damage. It’s truly a high-performance method of paint protection. Sun Tek is crystal clear after installation, and often only visible inside a couple feet from the car. It is the next evolution to the car-bra and when installed by a M.A.R.S. technician comes with a 7-year warranty.
The automotive industry is constantly changing, with products being improved as technology advances. At Puget Sound M.A.R.S. we only use the best, so you can be confident your vehicle will be treated to a long-lasting paint shield. 10+ years ago when the first paint protection products were introduced into the market, they had problems with yellowing over time, especially after extended UV exposure. It was actually the adhesive under the films causing the yellowing effect. Since then the industry has developed superior adhesives that do not yellow over time, making a paint protection film a true investment in the appearance of your vehicle.
The only time we won’t recommend a paint shield like Sun Tek is if you want to re-paint your vehicle. Repainting is definitely worth thinking about if your paint has a lot of scratches or swirls, but you would have to remove any protective films in the prepping stages. Paint first, then protect. PPF’s can prevent future scratches with their self-healing properties, but it can’t get rid of prior damage. When Sun Tek is applied, all it takes is hot water for scratches to vanish. As long as the car is maintained well, you will never see stretch marks or air bubbles in the film. It should last well beyond the life of the warranty.
We hate to admit it, but no paint protection film will ever be bulletproof. There is, however, a step above clear film: ceramic coatings. We carry three options at varying price points: Gyeon Quartz, Croftgate USA Assurance, and Ceramic Pro. While it still may be relatively new on the scene, Ceramic Pro is quickly becoming the top paint shield in the industry. If maintained correctly, ceramic only needs to be applied ONCE. After curing, only an abrasive process like wet sanding can remove it. This puts Ceramic Pro in a class of its own.
No matter which paint shield you choose, you can trust that the instillation will be done by professionally trained technician. The men from M.A.R.S. are passionate about restoring pride to your ride! Please note that in order to achieve the best possible final result we may recommend removal of scratches or other paint corrections prior to installing a clear film or ceramic coating.
